The CyberTombs
This model of the Cyber tombs from the 1967 classic “Tomb of the Cybermen”, originally designed by Martin Johnson, was constructed of card and is built to roughly 1/10th scale. Much use was made of silver and mirror card, which was used to finish the basic structure. The semicirular steps on either side were cut out individually from strips of white card — this took absolutely ages! — and the whole model was finished off with crumpled aluminium foil on either side. The membrane of each tomb compartment is made from tracing paper, with the Cyber emblem stencilled on as per the original. This looks especially good when backlit with blue light.
This model is currently being completely rebuilt.
